The 18th Congress of the Euro Asian Bridge Society & the 7th Annual Meeting of the Tunisian Association of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Successfully Held

The 18th Congress of the Euro Asian Bridge Society of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgeons and the 7th Congress of the Tunisian Association of Thoracic, Cardiac and Vascular Surgery took place in the Republic of Tunisia from May 15 to 17, 2025. The event gathered leading experts from Greece, China, the United States, France, Japan, and other countries to jointly explore the latest advancements in cardiovascular, thoracic, and vascular surgery.

Conference Background

Nearly two decades ago, the Euro Asian Bridge Society was born from a visionary idea. Dr. Sotirios Prapas of Greece, together with co-founder Dr. Belhan Akpinar of Türkiye, initiated a collaboration by building a bridge of mutual visits and surgical knowledge exchange between Greece and Türkiye. Within just a few months, this connection expanded to include Greece and the former Yugoslav Republics.

Today, the society boasts nearly 500 renowned cardiac surgeons from 23 countries. Over the years, the society’s conferences have been hosted in countries including Greece, Türkiye, Lebanon, Bulgaria, Romania, Montenegro, the UAE (Dubai), Croatia, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Serbia.

The mission of the society is to foster communication, bridge gaps between regional cardiac societies, and promote the exchange of ideas, research, and technologies in cardiovascular diagnostics and treatments across Europe, Asia, and beyond. It also aims to provide a platform for young physicians to showcase their work in cardiology and cardiac surgery. Beyond academic exchange, the society emphasizes friendship, striving to build bridges between people of different cultures, interests, and backgrounds in the pursuit of excellence through collaboration.

Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, is a unique city embodying African, Arab, and Mediterranean identities. It has a long-standing civilization and a rich Mediterranean cultural heritage.
