Bluesail Surgical showases Numerous Star Products at the 3rd Middle East and North Africa International Bariatric & Metabolic Alliance Conference!

Conference (3rd IFSO MENAC) was successfully held from December 12 to 14, 2024.

Conference Overview

The International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO) is an alliance of national associations of bariatric surgeons, currently comprising approximately 72 official member associations. IFSO's mission is to unify global scientific, surgical, and multidisciplinary health communities to disseminate knowledge, foster collaboration, and establish universal care standards for treating chronic diseases related to obesity.A primary objective of IFSO is to bring together surgeons and related healthcare professionals to optimize treatments for patients with severe obesity. It is also dedicated to creating a global network of obesity treatment centers and a surgeon certification system.

The Middle East and North Africa Chapter (IFSO MENAC) was established in 2017 as a regional chapter of IFSO. It was founded by the Gulf Obesity Surgery Society (GOSS), the Pan-Arab Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Society (PASMBS), and national weight-loss associations from the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, and Egypt.

This year's conference featured two days of academic sessions covering surgical and multidisciplinary topics. The event aimed to enrich participants' knowledge in metabolic and bariatric care, offering the latest updates from both regional and global perspectives.The conference agenda included various panel discussions on topics such as Endoscopic Bariatric Surgery (Endoscopic MBS), Robotic Bariatric Surgery (Robotic MBS), revision surgeries and complications, early career foundations, OAGB and bypass surgeries, and integrated health.IFSO MENAC President Khaled Gawdat and ESBS President Alaa Abbas expressed high hopes for the event and extended a warm welcome to the experts and scholars attending the conference.

The conference was held in Cairo, the capital and largest city of Egypt, as well as the largest city in both Africa and the Arab world. Located at the southern tip of the Nile Delta in northeastern Egypt, Cairo spans both sides of the Nile River. The city is grand in scale and magnificent in appearance, serving as the political, economic, cultural, commercial, and transportation hub of the entire Middle East region.

Device Showcase

During the conference, Bluesail Surgical’s booth welcomed industry professionals from around the world. Through technological innovation, these products provide safer and more effective surgical solutions for a wide range of patients.

As Bluesail Medical's first globally innovative original surgical instrument, the RenoVue® / RenoPort® disposable Intra-Abdominal Lens Cleaning Device became the focal product at this exhibition.

In bariatric metabolic surgery, due to the thick abdominal wall and high body fat content in patients, traditional endoscopes are more prone to contamination with blood, requiring frequent removal for cleaning. The unique negative pressure cleaning technology of RenoVue® / RenoPort® allows for lens cleaning in place, without the need to repeatedly adjust lens focus and white balance. This significantly reduces the burden on the assistant holding the scope.

Currently, single-port laparoscopic surgery has gradually become mainstream. The application of single-port bariatric surgery was again discussed at this conference, with RenoVue® / RenoPort® offering an advantage in narrow spaces, reducing surgical time.
