Bluesail Surgical and Purple Surgical present at the 72nd Brazilian Congress of Coloproctology!

Recently, the 72nd Brazilian Congress of Coloproctology was successfully held September 3-7 in Goiania, featured a wide array of courses, live surgeries, and lectures delivered by experts from Brazil and 10 other countries, with nearly 1,700 attendees.

The conference is the largest multidisciplinary colorectal congress in Brazil. It comprehensively covers diseases and dysfunctions of the colon, rectum and anus, making it an essential event for medical professionals in this field.

With nearly 1,700 attendees, the event was divided into two parts. A pre-conference event was held on Sept 3 - 4, where participants took part in immersive courses on colorectal pathology, such as intestinal endometriosis and pelvic floor dysfunction. During the pre-conference event, the congress presents a feast of live robotic surgery for the scholars. Patients were operated on at the Albert Einstein Hospital in Goiania, with images transmitted in real time to the audience hall, where live attendees could interact with the surgical team.

The congress kicked off on September 5 with nine insightful lectures on technological advancements in colorectal pathology and other relevant topics, with the participation of numerous international guests.

As the congress drew to close, a special event was organized to honor female colorectal specialists, who make up around 42% the Brazilian Association of Colorectal Societies. Balancing work and family life is a complex and challenging task for female healthcare professional in the medical field. Despite this, the majority of the female colorectal specialists within the Association wholeheartedly devote their time and energy to their work to ensure that their patients receive the best care. During the meeting, Congress President Hélio Moreira paid tribute to all the female members of the Association.

This Congress also marked the 90th anniversary of the Brazilian Society of Coloproctology. According to President Hélio Moreira, Brazil has the second largest coloproctology society in the world, following the United States. He proudly stated, "The association was initially founded in Rio de Janeiro, which was then the capital of Brazil by 20 doctors. Today it boasts over 2,000 members ,making it the second largest professional association in the world, only numerically less than the American Association"

Goiânia, the city where the conference took place, serve as the capital and largest city of the state of Goiás in west-central Brazil. Located in the center of the Brazilian plateau, it is one of the fastest-growing cities in Brazil, known for its modern architecture, wide avenues and green public spaces.
